4 Things to Look For In a Hotel

Going on vacation is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy one of the best parts about traveling— staying in a hotel!  However, anyone who’s stayed in a hotel before knows that they’re not all created equally. Staying in the right place can make or break your trip, so it’s important that you make the right choice. Here are some of the most important things to look for when choosing the perfect place to stay during your travels.

Rating

Ratings are extraordinarily important to look at because they tell you other people’s experience in that same hotel. The rating will help you determine if the place is adequately cleaned, if the staff is friendly, and if it’s a pleasant experience overall. Make sure that in addition to looking at the star rating you read the reviews and look for similar comments. If the same issues keep coming up, then it’s a pretty good indication that it’s probably something to be wary of. Whether there are plumbing issues, or too much street noise, the reviews will usually reveal problem areas. However, if you see the same praises coming up consistently, then it’s an indication that the compliments are probably well warranted.

Location

In addition to looking at ratings, you should look at the location of the hotel. Some people make the mistake of choosing a wonderfully rated hotel with all the right amenities, bells and whistles, only to find that it’s significantly far from all of the sites that they’re hoping to see. Even if a hotel is attractively priced, you have to consider the amount of money you’ll spend on transportation getting from the hotel to wherever you hope to go in town. In many cases, the taxis or train rides will start to add up significantly. You might be better off staying in a more expensive hotel close to town.

Bed Size

It’s important that you read all of the room details before booking.  If you’re going on a romantic vacation for two and you arrive only to find that you’re staying in a room with two twin beds, then it might thwart your plans. On the other hand, if you’re traveling with a friend, and you only have one bed in the room, then this could also put you at a disadvantage. Always make sure that you read the bed size thoroughly to ensure maximum comfort.

Value

Looks aren’t everything in a hotel. You want to make sure that whatever a hotel is priced for is well worth it. Of course, this can vary depending on your unique preferences. Some people find a hotel spa incredibly important, while others couldn’t care less. On the other hand, some people love the idea of having a pool at a hotel and are willing to pay extra for this feature. Make sure that whatever is important to you is worth the price tag attached to the hotel you’re reserving.
